Pollution is a serious problem that affects our planet. Figures indicate that garbage causes more than 200,000 premature deaths due to uncontrolled burning of household waste, because 2 billion people lack waste collection service. In addition, 79% of plastic produced has accumulated in nature and landfills. An alarming figure indicates that 90% of the plastic produced has not been recycled.

In response to this global problem, many initiatives have been launched that seek to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the environment.

One of them will be held on April 22, the 50th celebration of Earth Day. The Earth Day Network launched the “Great Global Cleanup” 2020 campaign, during which it intends to cause 100,000 actions. Registration is open for those who wish to organize cleaning campaigns.

During the Great Global Cleanup of 2019, more than 5,000 voluntary cleanups were coordinated in countries like the United States, Canada and India.
